Yuan Ying

Yuan Ying (active 1765-1785) Landscape Ink and color on paper, a continuous scene mounted as four hanging scrolls, inscribed and signed Yuan Ying , followed with two square relief seals of the artist reading Chen , and Ying . 116 x 25in (294.6 x 63.5cm) each scroll Yuan Ying specialized in the painting of landscapes and flowers, and was active in the Ruyiguan at the Qianlong court between the years 1765-1785, serving the Inner Palace upon the recommendation of Li Yinpei. He was originally from Yuanhe, Jiangsu Province and used the zi Jinhua and hao Erfeng. His long service to the emperor is evinced by his extent works in the National Palace Museum Taipei, including three hanging scrolls and an album, and several extant works in the Palace Museum Beijing.
