Description:
early 1930s Oil on canvas 12 x 16 inches (30.5 x 40.6 cm) Signed lower right This painting was purchased from Robert Wood in the early 1930s. It was originally signed "G. Day." In 1976 the owners, concerned that the "G. Day" pseudonym would not be recognized as a true Robert Wood painting, took it to the Sigoloff Gallery for Robert Wood to re-sign. Wood covered the original "G. Day" signature and re-signed the painting "Robert Wood." In addition, his daughter, Florence Wood, wrote the following about the painting: Aug 6th 1976 I certify this 12 x 16 G. Day Bluebonnet is an original and authentic painting painted by my father Robert Wood circa 1930. This Bluebonnet with the oak tree on the right and rolling hills in the background was painted northwest of San Antonio. The colors are still beautiful after all of these years. Florence Wood Daughter of Robert Wood Provenance: Acquired from the artist by the present owner Estimate: $4,000 - $8,000. Condition Report*: Excellent condition. Period frame in excellent condition.
