(British ?-1960) The Devil's Daughter Oil on canvas 44-1/2 x 55 inches (113.0 x 139.7 cm) Old label verso: (Miss) Margaret Lindsay Williams / 'Elm Grove' Dinas Powes S. Wales Stamp on canvas: Soho Square, Newman, London Estimate: $8,000 - $10,000. Condition Report*: Original canvas, with losses to what appears to be an original frame. Thick, old varnish has been applied that shows signs of craquelure and in some places bubbling, minor alligatoring throughout the flesh tones, approximately 1/2 inch tear in upper right quadrant, approximately 1/2 inch horizontal tear to canvas in lower right corner, shows evidence of some repair to bottom edge of woman's dress, otherwise good condition. *Heritage Auction Galleries strongly encourages in-person inspection of items by the bidder.
