signed Willette (lower right)

oil on canvas

164 by 90cm., 64½ by 35½in.

The canvas has been relined. Ultraviolet light reveals some scattered old retouchings, notably strokes in the nude figure and putto, in a circa 5 by 4cm area below the nude's left hand, and small strokes in the backgorund. The overall appearance of this work is good and it is ready to hang. Presented in a decorative dark wood frame with a raised gilt motif.
