BUELL WHITEHEAD, AMERICAN (1919-1993) WOOD FIRE and FAT LIGHTENED TREE, two color lithographs, each pencil signed lower margin with titles, slight matte burns, framed. 9 3/4 x 8 1/8 inches (sight) A lithographer and painter of fantastical figural subjects and stylized landscapes of Illinois, Colorado, New Mexico and Florida, Buell Whitehead received much of his recognition after his death in 1993. As a young boy, Whitehead assisted the inventor Thomas Edison with experiments, and in the 1940s turned his attention to artistic lithography while traveling out west.
