Lot Notes
Waite was born in Leatherhead, and devoted his life to paintingpictures of the Surrey countryside. The village of Peaslake laywithin a trap-ride of Waite's studio at Abinger Hammer, and was afavourite subject. Similar records of the Surrey Weald weresimultaneously being executed by Helen Allingham, Myles BirketFoster and Benjamin Williams Leader. Waite exhibited at the RoyalAcademy between 1878 and 1919.
