Franz von Matsch (1861 - 1942) Lot 179: Unknown artist of the early 20th century, Portrait of a Lady in Pearl Jewellery Description: Signed lower left: F. v. Matsch Fritz von Matsch was a celebrated and versatile artist, active in Vienna around 1900. In 1879 he began working together with Gustav Klimt and his brother Ernst Klimt to carry out decorative wall and ceiling murals, including many on Ringstrasse in Vienna and in Empress Elisabeth's Achilleion on Corfu. He became a prominent member of the Vienna Secession in 1897. Among his most significant works is the so-called Anker-Uhr on the Hohe Markt, which was constructed between 1911 and 1914. Dimensions: 45.4 x 49.5 cm; gold-painted and stuccoed wooden frame: 64.5 x 71.5 cm

Over a vast, partially shaded, partially sunlit meadow with blue and red flowers looks the viewer into a valley (probably located close to Madonna di Campiglio), with a hunting lodge to the left. In the center of the composition is a small pond.
