had a great appreciation for the beauty of everyday life,
and his photographs of the Vancouver downtown reveal
his fascination with the formal patterns he found in its
buildings. The Hotel Vancouver held a special interest for
Vanderpant, as he held solo exhibitions there in the
1920s, and his fine historical architectural views of
Vancouver such as this are sought-after by collectors.
