Oil on panel, 25.1 x 35.7 cm N.B.: This work is by the hand of two artists: Van Severdonck painted the figures and Favelle painted the landscape. The Belgian painter Frans van Severdonck is known for his beautiful horses and riders. Several works by his hand are in the collection of the Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Brussels.

During the 19th century the cattle piece was a muchloved genre, in Belgium van Verboeckhoven's followers includedFrans van Leemputten and Remy Maes. In the Netherlands it wasAlbertus Verhoesen.

Presented in a period gilt and gesso frame with artistplaque. **Guillaume Lauters (Belgian, 19th/20th Century) and Franz Van Severdonck(Belgian, 1809-1889) "Farmer with Sheep and GoatsResting by a Boat-Filled Lake", 1885, oil onpanel: In overall very good condition. A few tiny scratches to thesky at upper left and right corners - somewhat visible incatalogue/Web photo. Tiny surface nick to water's edge near rocks, just above innermost goat at the middle of picture.Light age craquelure throughout. Colors are very appealing.Signature is nice and clear. Minor, light frame abrasionsscattered along some of the edges where it meets frame.
