Belgian aristocraticownership.
A comparable stilllife with fish can be found in the Musée de Narbonne (see M.Faré,
La nature morte en France,
vol. II,
Geneva 1962,
ill. 90). Pieter Boucle was a pupil ofFrans Snyders. He lived in Paris from 1632. Although he primarilyproduced cartoons for tapestries at the start of his career,
he later became one of the most successful Flemish still lifepainters in France.
