Lot 767 Felix Vallotton (1865-1925) LES CYGNES (VALLOTTON/GOERG 100) Woodcut, 1892, on cream wove paper, signed in pencil, pale matstain, a 1/8 x 1/8 inch occlusion (?) in the bottom margin, some printer's ink verso, otherwise in good condition, with full margins. 5 1/4 x 7 inches; 133 x 178 mm. Lot 20 FÉLIX EDOUARD VALLOTTON (swiss 1865-1925) "LA PARESSE" 1893, signed and numbered '93' (from the edition of 180) in blue pencil, with wide margins. Woodcut on wove paper. image: 7 x 8 3/8 in. (17.8 x 22.2cm) sheet: 9 7/8 x 12 3/4 in. (25.1 x 32.5cm) [Vallotton-Goerg 169a]. Unframed provenance: Robert Hartshorne, New York, with his inkstamp on the reverse (L. 2215b) Estimate $30,000-50,000 Extremely pale light staining. Soft rippling and two very soft vertical ripples that extend from the bottom of the sheet to the top through the image (through hair and cat tail). A hard crease that appears to be a result of printing process across bottom right corner of the printed area that measures about 3 in and extends into the margin to the lft of the signature. A few short creases at the margin edges and rippling associated with hinging at the top of the sheet edge. Minor surface soiling in places. Traces of old glue remains at the reverse of the upper margin corners. Overall in very good condition.
