Henry King Taylor (fl.1857-1869) View of St. Aubin's Fort, St. Aubin's Bay, Jersey signed 'H.K. Taylor' (lower right) oil on canvas 24 x 36 in. (61 x 91.5 cm.)
Built in 1542 on the orders of Sir Henry Cornish to protect the harbour at St. Aubin, the tower became a fort during the English Civil War (1642-1651).

Add. Notes: signed and dated 'H K Taylor/58' (lower right) oil on canvas 21 x 30 in. (53.3 x 76.2 cm.)Notes: La Danseuse au Soleil noir is related to the later print Le Cracheur de Flammes (D. 650), but is presented in a landscape rather than a portrait format, and also bears differences in the background colours. This is confirmed by the certificate written in pencil by the director of the Fondació Miró on the reverse of the sheet. As this is the Bon í Tirer impression for an edition which was not executed, it may be presumed to be unique.
