Tarr (British, 1905-1996) AGame of Badminton in High Summer signed lower left "James Tarr" oilon board 23 x 34cm Jack Tarr was a near contemporary of Bawden andRavilious at the Royal College of Art. After leaving college hebecame Painting Master at the Gloucester School of Art, and paintedmany good watercolours of the Gloucestershire countryside and had anumber shown at the Royal Academy. He later succeeded StanleyLewis, ARCA, MBE (b.1905) as Principal of the Newport School ofArt.
