Tait / N.A. / 53 E. 56th St. N.Y. / May 1893 / . 893 on the reverse Oil on canvas 18 x 27 1/8 inches Arthur Fitzwilliam Tait exhibited a work entitled Repose at the National Academy of Design in 1891 (no. 523). Not examined out of frame. Lined. Craquelure. Touches of inpaint in the sky, with an old area of restoration/ possible repaired tear in the sky at center, measuring approximately 2 ½ x 3 ½ inches, approximately 4 inches to the left of trees. No inpaint in the main body of the composition.
