Jacob Spin (Amsterdam 1806-1875) The Hendrika Bartina and the Johanna Hendrika sailing near the shore signed and dated 'J. Spin. 1852' (lower left) pen, watercolour and gouache on paper 522 x 723 mm.
The Hendrika Bartina was built in 1851. Her captain was J. Hofener. The Johanna Hendrika was built in 1849. Her captain was J.J. Lieuwen. Botth vessels were commissioned by Schroeder.

On the 16 September 1847 the barque 'Anna' was launched at thewharf Jan Schouten in Dordrecht. The construction design for thisvessel is kept at the Maritime Museum, Rotterdam.
