George Speck 20th c "East Village, NYC (University Place)" oil on canvas Signed lower left and titled on upper back stretcher. George Speck was born in Charlottesville and raised in nearby Waynesboro, Virginia. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Virginia and went on to advanced study at the Art Students League and the City College of New York. He completed a PhD from New York University in art therapy. He is well known for his impasto oil canvases and his work is in many private and institutional collections.
