School of Southworth & Hawes (American, fl. 1843-1863)
Quarter-plate Daguerreotype of a Woman with Lace Collar,
in a sealed package with an oversize quarter-plate brass mat.
Condition: Uncased, back of plate is silvered, scattered spots of corrosion on brass mat, sealed with black and silver tapes.
Provenance: A private New England collection.
According to consignor, the plate has a silvered back.

Sixth-plate Daguerreotype of a Man Holding an Infant,
in a brown Southworth & Hawes case.
Condition: Tarnish, minor accretions on glass, case gently worn at edges, repaired spine, case opening at u.r. corner, brass preserver slightly crushed at u.r., minor spots of corrosion on brass mat, not examined out of case.
Provenance: A private New England collection.
According to the consignor, the plate bears a "Scovill's" hallmark and has a narrow double elliptical mat. There is evidence of a wide paper seal. After examination, the package was resealed by D. Kolody in 1979.

Condition: Minor tarnish, several accretions, case gently worn with several abraded areas, adhesive residue from an old label on the bottom, not examined out of case.

According to the consignor, the plate has a silvered back, a narrow double elliptical mat, and a narrow paper seal.
