The larger version owned by the NivaagaardPicture Gallery was given as a birthday present from corn dealerHans Puggaard to his wife Bolette Puggaard in February 1836.
One could easily imagine Mr Puggaard falling in love with theromantic scenery in the painting here and commissioning an evenlarger version for his wife.
