Lot 221 Anglo/American School 19th century two portraits of race horses with jockeys Each signed, "F. Smyth"; the first entitled, "Crucifix, Winner of the Oaks, 1840, ridden by J.B. Day" and the second "Little Wonder, Winner of the Derby 1840," oil on canvas, framed. 8 1/2 in. x 10 1/2 in. (sight) PROVENANCE: Estate of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Wister, Oldwick, New Jersey. Estimate $250-350 Each soiled, with craquelure, small loss of paint to left of "little Wonder", slight vertical line, approx. 1 1/4 in. long, near frame edge flouresces on "Crucifix."
