Condition:

Wilhelm Schreuer was born in Wesel. Around 1884/90, he was trained by Peter Janssen (1844-1908), who was active as the head of the Academy in Düsseldorf. Schreuer initially focused on Rococo and Empire costume compositions. He later also painted street and war scenes. Examples of his artistic output are represented, for instance, at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne, at the National Galerie in Berlin as well as at the Kunstmuseum in Düsseldorf. (msc)
