Schatz" lower right Oil on canvas, 15 1/3 by 23 inches Born in 1925 in Stettin, Germany, Schatz is known for his ability to capture motion, the elusive movement of ducks in flight. His works are held in the permanent collections of the Genesee Country Museum in Mumford, New York, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, Wyoming. Wildschweine in Winterlandschaft. Öl auf Leinwand und Keilrahmen, um 1960/70. Drei Wildschweine traversieren eine karge, verschneite Lichtung. Rechts unten signiert "Schatz". In vergoldetem Rahmen. Bildgröße 60,5 x 80,5 cm, gerahmt 79 x 99 cm. Professor Manfred Schatz besuchte 1940 - 43 die Kunstgewerbeschule Stettin und die Hochschule für bildende Künste in Berlin. 1949 kehrte er aus Kriegsgefangenschaft zurück und widmete sich der Tiermalerei. Auf den Int. Kunstausstellungen in Florenz 1964 erhielt er eine Silbermedaille, in Toronto 1975 wurde er zum bedeutendsten Maler wildlebender Tiere erkoren und in Nürnberg 1985 gewann er eine Goldmedaille. 1987 wurde er Professor der St. Ambrose University in Davenport/USA. Professor Manfred Schatz (1925 - 2004), Wild boars in winter landscape. Oil on stretched canvas, circa 1960/70. Three wild boar traverse a desolate snow-covered forest clearing. Signed bottom right "Schatz". In gilt frame. Size of painting 60.5 x 80.5 cm, with frame 79 x 99 cm. From 1940 to 1943, Professor Manfred Schatz attended the School of Arts and Crafts in Stettin and the Hochschule für bildende Künste (Academy of Fine Art) in Berlin. In 1949 he returned from war captivity and devoted himself to painting animals. At the international art exhibitions in Florence in 1964 he received the silver medal, in Toronto in 1975 he was chosen as the most important painter of animal wildlife, and in 1985 in Nuremberg he won a gold medal. In 1987 he was appointed to a professorship at the St. Ambrose University, Davenport, USA.
