Alessandro Sani Italian, 19th/20th century INSPECTING THE MEAL Signed A. Sani (ul) Oil on canvas 23 3/8 x 29 inches Estimate $4,000-6,000 Dirty varnish. Frame rubbing. Scattered craquelure. Visiblestretcher mark. Small ding from behind with tiny paint flakes(upper left area). Dulling varnish - makes detection of restorationvery difficult under UV light. There is possibly an area ofinpainting around the central figure - in the very dark brownpigments. This may not be restoration, however, the naturaltendency of the pigment used by the artist to fluoresce under UVlight.
