Anne Said, British 1914-1995- Still life, fruit and skull; graphite, signed and dated 55, 25x37cm, (may be subject to Droit de Suite) Note: Painter and draughtsman. Born 19 August 1914 at Hook, Hampshire. Educated at Queen's College, London, 1925-30. Studied spasmodically with Ozenfant in Paris c. 1938-9 while designing textiles to pay for her art training. Worked in Egypt from 1941 to 1955, and taught there in conjunction with her husband Hamed Said, forming a group of students whose work was exhibited in Cairo in 1948 and 1955. First solo exhibition at the Beaux Arts Gallery 1957. Provenance: from the St Gabriel's College Collection, London

The following six lots are by Anne Said (1914-1995) She was born 19 August 1914 at Hook, Hampshire and educated at Queen's College, London 1925-30. She studied spasmodically with Amedee Ozenfant in Paris circa 1938-9, while designing textiles to pay for her art training. She worked in Egypt from 1941 to 1955, and taught there with her husband Hamed Said, forming a group of students whose work was exhibited in Cairo in 1948 and 1955. Her first solo exhibition was held at the Beaux Arts Gallery in 1957 She is represented in the Tate Gallery Anne Said THE TOMBS OF THE SAINTS Signed, inscribed in ink verso 'Anne Said 1962', oil on canvas, 51 x 76cm Estimate: £300 to £500
