Over a fifty-year period, he worked closely with Sotheby````s, Christie````s, and private collectors to cultivate his collection. His monumental icons, as well as those purchased from Natalie Hays Hammond, daughter of John Hays Hammond, diplomat, were some of his favored items.

Partially discolouration and staining, scratch upper left. The creator of this appealing costal landscape is a representative of the big Irish family of painters, called Rowbotham. The members of this family are so similar in quality, depicted subjects and execution of their works that it is almost impossible to differ between them. Irischer Landschaftsmaler. Ende 19. Jh. Italienische Küstenlandschaft. Gouache auf Aquarellpapier, auf Pappe kaschiert. U.r. bez. «Chas Rowbotham» und 1886 dat. Partiell Verfärbungen und Flecken, o.l. Kratzer. Der Schöpfer dieser sehr reizvollen Küstenlandschaft ist ein Vertreter der großen irischen Malerfamilie Rowbotham, deren Mitglieder sich in Qualität, Sujets und Stil der Ausführung ihrer Arbeiten kaum voneinander unterscheiden.
