Frances Richards, British 1903-1985- The Acts of the Apostles, 1929; a portfolio of seven copper plate engravings, all signed with initials in pencil, signed and numbered 66 on the justification page, from the edition of 70 copies, housed in a cloth bound folio, published by Barn Elm Editions, London, 1980, printed by Studio Prints, London, accompanying text printed by Skelton's Press, Wellingborough, engravings range between 15.2×14cm to 14×14.6cm, 39.8x29x3cm (folio), (7) (unframed/folio) (ARR) Note: for similar example see Tate, P07417- P07423. In 1929 Stanley Morison commissioned Frances Richards to produce an engraving illustrating the Acts of the Apostles for The Fleuron. A version of \‘The Shipwreck\’ was published, but the plate was subsequently lost. Another version of \‘The Shipwreck\’ and six more plates were engraved at the same time but never proofed. In 1978 the plates were discovered, proofed and editioned by Mel Gooding of Barn Elm Editions: together with one further publication by the same artist published by Barn Elm Editions, London entitled 'The Road to Town', and five further publications by Frances Richards published by Enitharmon Press, London, entitled 'Some Poems by Richard Burns','Some Poems with Drawings' 1982, 'Some Poems with Drawings' 1983, 'Poems of Experience', 'More Poems with Drawings' 1984, ea. numbered, some dedicated, range 22x15.5cm-38.4x31.5cm , (7) (folio) (ARR)
