Various exhibitions and publications fromthese journeys saw him elected a Fellow of the Royal GeographicalSociety in 1889.This work is a view of Mount Assiniboine, in the Candian Rockies.The peak, known as 'the Candian Matterhorn', was described by thefirst man to climb it, James Outram, in the following terms: 'Itsmassive pyramid forms a conspicuous landmark from almost everyconsiderable eminence for scores of miles around, towering fully1500 feet above its neighbours, and by its isolation no less thanby its splendid outline commanding attention andadmiration'1.
