(lower right) watercolour 13 x 39 in (33.1 x 99cm) Provenance: Believed to have been with Frost and Reed Ltd, Bristol, March 1927 (when purchased by Henry Wills Gunn for £260 Henry Wills Gunn, Esq. Elmfield, Westbury on Trym Mrs Isabella Kathleen Gunn The Estate of the Late Mrs Isobel Evans The location depicted in this painting has traditionally been identified as Lake Como. For another watercolour by the artist of slightly earlier date depicting 'Figures on a balcony at Como' cf. Sotheby's London 16th July 1987 Lot 169.
