G.F. Reichmann, who died in Hannover, had already finished two ancestral portraits of the Welfs for their Palace in Marienburg.

Reichmann portrayed Augusta in 1925-30n when she was just a little girl, also showing her in bourgeois clothing (oil on canvas, 25,6 x 22,6, framed RCIN 402481) Pictured here is the Etching of Johann Giere, after the portrait of Reichmann.

As of now, the portrait was only catalogued as \“Eierlieschen\“, her identification is a new discovery.

Augusta Caroline Charlotte Elisabeth Mary Sophia Louise of Cambridge, Princess of Great Britain, Ireland and Hannover. Was the eldest daughter of Adolphus Frederick, 1. Duke of Cambridge, and viceroy of Hanover (1774–1850) and his wife Auguste of Hessen (1797– 1889). She grew up at the Royal court in Hanover.

In 1843 she married her cousin, the later Frederick-Wilhelm of Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1819– 1904), later becoming Grand Duchess
