The J.T. Morse was build in 1903 by William McKie in EastBoston for the Eastern Steamship Corp. She was 214 ft. LOA and waspowered by a 600 hp single beam engine. She ran from April toOctober or November each year on the Rockland to Bar Harbor runwith many stops in between. On the morning of September day in1910, the J.T. Morse collided with the Permaquid offthe coast of Maine during her regular run between Rockland and BarHarbor. She suffered considerable damage and was beached at MooseIsland where the passengers and crew were safely evacuated. She wasreturned to service and sold to New York in 1933 and was removedfrom service in 1941.
