Margaret Fisher Prout was a London artist and daughter of the painter Mark Fisher. Prout painted in an Impressionistic style with her primary focus on landscape, flowers and figures. She was born in 1875 in Chelsea, London and studied under her prominent father as well as attending the Slade School from 1894-1897.
She exhibited at several places including the New English Art Club and the Royal Academy. Not only was Prout an artist but she was a teacher at the Hammersmith School of Arts and Crafts. A solo exhibition was held at the Beaux Arts Gallery in 1922.

Add. Notes: signed and dated 'Fisher Prout/1954' (lower left) oil on canvas 25 x 30 in. (63.5 x 76.2 cm.)Notes: La Danseuse au Soleil noir is related to the later print Le Cracheur de Flammes (D. 650), but is presented in a landscape rather than a portrait format, and also bears differences in the background colours. This is confirmed by the certificate written in pencil by the director of the Fondació Miró on the reverse of the sheet. As this is the Bon í Tirer impression for an edition which was not executed, it may be presumed to be unique.
