Interior with Two Young Women Sharing a Letter
Signed "Edward Portielje" l.l., identified on a presentation plaque, and inscribed
on the reverse.
Oil on panel, 18 x 14 3/4 in. (45.7 x 37.7 cm), framed.
Condition: Crack to panel u.r. with paint losses, scattered minor old retouch, surface grime, minor frame abrasions.
Estimate $6,000-8,000
Inscribed within a painted white rectangle on the reverse: "The undersigned declares that this picture has been painted by himself./Edward Portielje." Also with remnants of a red wax seal on the reverse.
Crack to upper right quadrant, 3 1/2 inches long, located 4 inches in from the right corner, with small paint losses along its right edge. Scattered small dabs of possible old retouch located in the background around the back of the chair center right.
