A very big flag of the United States is blowing in front of the World Trade Center in New York City. The photograph was taken by Josef Polleross in the 1980s. The impressing black and white pictures that arose from Polleross's photographic trips through New York in the 1980s mirror his subjective viewpoint of life in New York and have written photography history.

The photograph is verso signed in pencil 'Josef Polleross', as well as titled and dated 'World Trade Center 1980's vintage exhibition print'. It is signed lower right on the mat in pencil 'Josef Polleross' and titled and dated lower left 'NYC, World Trade Center 1980'. The photograph is in very good condition. It is mounted with photo corners under a mat. The photo paper measures 35.5 x 27.8 cm while the size of the image amounts to 34.3 x 17 cm.

Josef Polleross (b. 1963)

Josef Polleross has already lived in New York, Cairo and Bangkok. In the 1980s, he started a career as a photo reporter in cooperation with the photo agency JB-Pictures in New York, which not only let him travel to many places of the world but also resulted in cover pages of many international print media. His photographs for political and social coverages were published e.g. in New York Times, Washington Post, Life, Newsweek, Time, Geo, Stern and Spiegel. A few years ago Polleross has almost entirely turned towards artistic photography. With his triptychs he succeeded in diverse national and international exhibitions, as well as with photo book publications. (tm)
