Bei Peng Kwok, also commonly referred to as Guo Beiping, was born in Xian city in the southern Chinese province of Shaanxi. In 1969 he graduated from art school and went on to work at the Yan'an Museum in the north of Shaanxi. There he was a member of the Art Creation Group where he continued to develop his work under famed artists Shi Lu and Cai Liang. The following year Beipeng moved back to Xian to study traditional Chinese painting with Kang Shi Rao. Six years later he would study oil painting under Yang Tai Yang as a post-graduate student at Guang Xi Art College. Currently, Beiping is considered one of the most outstanding artists in the area of figure painting in China. His masterful style is highly sought-after and appreciated by private and corporate collectors worldwide. In the past decade, Beiping has won top prizes in many national and international art exhibitions. His artworks can be found in museums and private collections in countries the world over. China's rural countryside has had a strong impact on Beiping's work, and he history, culture and legacy of China are never far from the artist's mind.
