Lot Notes
Margarita Tupitsina:
I want to ask you, why you use fabric in your works?
Timur Novikov:
For purely utilitarian purposes. Everything comes from Larionov...Larionov drew a lot from folk art. As everyone knows, in folk art, painting on canvas is not sufficient. Folk art, on the whole, istextiles...I make pictures which are at one time a curtain, ascreen and a very serious artwork. It can be both a table cloth andthe most sophisticated form of art.
Margarita and Victor Tupitsin.
Discussion with Timur and Afrika, Leningrad, 1989.
