ANDREW NICHOLL, RHA (1804-1886) A SCENE IN CEYLON (SRI LANKA) Signed, watercolour and pencil 33.5 x 49cm. * In 1849, Nicholl was sent by the Government to work as an art teacher in Colombo. He made friends with the Colonial Secretary there, Sir James Emerson Tennent, Bt (1804-1869, a fellow Belfast man), and was commissioned by him to produce many scenes on the Ireland.

Watercolour, 34 x 48.5cm (13¼ x 19'') Signed There is debate as to the location of this work with some suggesting it is an early view towards Bray.
