MILLIE SKEEN NAMPITJIN Balgo Hills WA (born c.1935) Inma (Dance Ceremony) acrylic on canvas artist's name inscribed verso bears catalogue number 263/93 90 x 60 cm Provenance: Warlayirti Artists WA. Coo-ee Aboriginal Art NSW. Private collection. Certificate supplied. From the certificate: "This painting tell [sic] about a special ceremony that is held to celebrate the emu and its nesting time. This inma (dance ceremony) is performed by Tjampitjin men and Nampitjin women. A special stick called a 'kultalka' and a small digging coolamon called a 'wantjalpa' feature in this inma. The story comes from Millie's country passed on to her by her parents as has happened for many thousands of years.
