Description: MULREADY, Augustus Edwin, (British, 1844-1905): "Sounds of Revelry, 1887", Oil/Woodpanel, 14.25" x 10.5", signed lower right, early label affixed verso, encased in a gilded frame 21" x 17". Mulready was quite known for his almost literal interpretations of everyday life, which differed from the quite emotional works of the era. A member of the Royal Academy, his exhibited works were shown from 1863-1880.
