Painting is relined, has extensive surface craquelure, has a somewhat high-gloss surface finish and in some areas appears thinly painted - the latter possibly indicative of some overcleaning (although it is also possibly by Monticelli's intent). Under u.v. light we notice what appears to be two campaigns of restoration: the older restoration appears with a paler fluorescence under u.v., mostly, though not entirely, in the upper 2/3 of the painting in the background trees (there is less older restoration in the lower 1/3 of the painting). The newer restoration appears as precise, dark spots under u.v. and appears to cover tiny surface losses. The newer restoration is much less prevalent than the older restoration. The figures appear generally unrestored apart from very slight craquelure fill to part of bottom of woman's dress at far left.
Descriptions provided in both printed and on-line catalogue formats do not include condition reports.
