View from the Valley of the Temples in Sicily with Agrigento in the background. Signed and dated P. Mønsted 1885. Oil on canvas. 60 x 43 cm.
The ruin is named Tempio dei Dioscuri or the Temple of Castor and Pollux. The size of the temple was c. 39 x 17 metres with 34 columns. Only 4 are left today. The view of the ruin with Agrigento in the background is impressive.
