A pair of portraits of merchant Peter Saabye (1784-1859) and his wife Augusta Saabye (1789-1850), née Lauerwald, ballet dancer at Det Kongelige Teater (The Royal Danish Theatre).

She is holding sheets of music, he is holding a letter with a red wax seal.

He signed and dated I.

Period Damborg frames with labels.

The couple was married in 1810, whereupon she retired from the stage.

As a ballet dancer she was known for her talent and beauty.
