John Henry Mole R.I. (1814-1886)
Coastal Scene at Low Tide with a young boy and girl
Signed and dated 1858, pencil, watercolour and gouache heightened with white, also with scratching out, 53.5cm by 83.5cm
Born in Alnwick, Northumberland. Exhibited miniatures at the Royal Academy 1845, 1846 and 1879. Elected an Associate of the New Society of Painters in Watercolour in 1847 and a Member the next year. He became a Member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters in 1883 and the following year Vice President of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours.
