Description:
Freaks Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, R-1949. A complete set of 8 lobby cards, with original storage envelope stamped "Freaks" and "An Excelsior Picture." Tod Browning's Freaks (1932) offended both critics and audiences deeply, all but ending his directorial career. The film was not revived until 1949, when exploitation producer Dwain Esper reissued it, sometimes retitling it Forbidden Love or Nature's Mistakes. Esper's lobby cards luridly ballyhoo Freaks with ad copy like: "Do Siamese Twins make love?" 11 x 14 in

Description:
Sherlock, Jr.

Metro Pictures Corp., 1924. Russian poster, paper-backed. Rare Russian film poster for Sherlock, Jr., the 1924 American silent comedy starring Buster Keaton. Although not a commercial success in its day, the film is now considered one of the most inventive film comedies. The best known sequence has the camera operator entering the actual movie screen (a moment that later inspired Woody Allen's The Purple Rose of Cairo). This poster was based on a famous movie still of Keaton disguised with mustache and a magnifying glass while reading a copy of How to Be A Detective. 28 ½ x 42 ½ in
