Lot 15 LEO JOHN MEISSNER (american, 1895-1977) "WAR BULLETINS" AND "CIVILIZATION A.D." two prints 1942, both signed and titled in pencil, numbered 37/50 and 25/50, respectively, both with wide margins. Etchings on wove paper. image: 6 1/4 x 9 1/8 in. (15.8 x 23.2cm) and; image: 10 3/4 x 8 3/8 in. (27.3 x 21.3cm) (2). provenance: Lehman Brothers. Note: This lot is to be sold not subject to a reserve. Estimate $800-1,200 War Bulletins: On Japan paper, pale mat staining, a very soft vertical crease approx. 3-in. long along the lower right margin edges, a short 1/2-in. smudge at lower right margin corner, affixed to support with brown Japanese tabs across upper margin corners (approx. 1/2 in. each). Overall in very good condition. Sheet size: 10 1/4 x 11 1/2 in. Overmatted, in thin dark brown wood frame Civilzation AD: Matted, framed; fine overall condition, the (apparently) full sheet with margins on all sides with 2 tape hinges top edge verso affixed to undermat. Sheet size: 17 1/16 x 12 5/8 in. There is pale mount staining recto and verso. Image itself in fine condition.
