A silver okimono of a kestrel perched on a bronze tree trunk By Masatsune, Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th/early 20th century Constructed separately and perched with its wings partly spread, alert and poised, ready to pounce on unsuspecting prey, its beak and legs of gilt, signed on the underside of its tail Masatsune chu within a rectangular reserve; on a detachable gnarled bronze tree trunk. The hawk: 14cm x 27.5cm (5½in x 10¾in); the trunk: 27.5cm x 31cm (5½in x 12 1/16in). (2).
