Lot Notes View Lot Condition Report Pompeo Mariani was born on 9th September 1857 in Monza, Italy. His mother Giulia (1838-1914) was the first daughter of the painter Giosui (1803-1875) and sister of the most famous artist of the Bianchi family, Mosh (1840-1904). Mariani's house was often visited by artists and poets such as Alessandro Manzoni. The work presented was painted in 1911 which was the period when Mariani got married and settled down in a little villa in Bordighera where he spent most of the year.
