Through careful application of colour, the artist develops a sense of depth in the composition while achieving a harmonious balance. The dark underpainted layers compliment and contrast the rich surface, which is both subtle and luxurious in colour and texture. Achieved through applying the paint to the canvas with a palette knife, the resulting texture generates a sense of gentle movement and rhythm on the canvas.
