Original colour lithography of an advertising poster for the Verein zur Foerderung Dresdens und des Fremdenverkehrs (Dresden Promotion and Tourism Association)

Dimensions: 69 x 43 cm

Good condition

The poster says the following in German \‘Dresden Promotion and Tourism Society office main train station, complimentary information of every kind\’\’\’\’\’\’\’\’, and depicts a lady and a gentleman, who are both reading a little red book. They are probably visitors of the city of Dresden. The silhouette of the city of Dresden is visible in the background. A pleasantly crafted lithography in the colours blue, green and red.
The poster holds the artist\’\’\’\’\’\’\’\’s name and date on the lower right \‘Mueller-Breslau, 1897\’\’\’\’\’\’\’\’. The printer\’\’\’\’\’\’\’\’s note is also located in the lower right corner \‘Kunstanstalt Wilhelm Hoffmann A.-G., Dresden\’\’\’\’\’\’\’\’. The paper of the poster is strengthened by tape around the edge on the reverse. A few millimetres of the left upper corner are missing. There are spots on the lower and left edges. The paper is slightly abraded on the left rim. The paper is age-relatedly yellowed, foxed and creased. The dimensions are 69 x 43 cm.
Georg Mueller-Breslau (1856-1911)

Georg Mueller-Breslau first trained as lithographer and then studied painting under Adolf Dressler. He was a member of the Dresden Secession and of the Artists Association The Elbier. He created landscape paintings, figurative paintings and lithographies. His works are owned by the Galerie Neue Meister in Dresden amongst other museums and collections.
