restretched on original stretcher, lined, minor points of retouch primarily at edges and in sky, crackle, frame abrasions; frame with abrasions
Estimate: $4,000 - $6,000
Lot Notes: Jean-Marie Faverjon exhibited at the Salon de Paris 1848-1872. Two paintings, [L'Eté] and [Le Printemps,] are listed in Benezit, [Dictionnaire Des Peintres…,] volume 4, suggesting this painting is one of this allegorical group. A partial exhibition label is verso stretcher with artist's name, the title of [Le Printemps,] and with the number "225". It is possible the stretchers were switched at the time of lining.
