Balthasar Lobo (1910-1993) Mère et enfant, La Ciotat petite signed and numbered 'Lobo 00/4' (on the mother's right side) with foundry stamp 'Susse Fondeur Paris' (on the mother's back) bronze with golden patina 9 1/8 x 7½ x 3 1/8 in. (23 x 19 x 8 cm.) Conceived circa 1947 and executed in an edition of six, numbered from 1/4 to 4/4 plus 0/4 and 00/4, plus two numbered artist proofs E.A. 1/2 and E.A. 2/2 and two non-numbered artist proofs, dedicated. This work cast in February 1985, number 00/4 from the edition. COLLECTION D'UNE PARISIENNE Mentioned in V. Bollmann-Müller and J.-E. Müller, Lobo: Catalogue raisonné de l'oeuvre sculpté, Paris, 1985, no. 64, p. 110 (not illustrated). Galeria Freites has confirmed the authenticity of this work. This work is recorded in the archives of the Galerie Malingue, Paris, under no. 6828. Private Collection Baltasar Lobo 1910 - 1993 PENSIVE À GENOUX inscribed Lobo, numbered 7/8 and stamped with the Foundry mark Susse Fondeur Paris bronze height: 21.6cm., 8½in. Conceived in 1967-68 and cast in bronze under the supervision of the artist before 1986 in an edition of 8 plus 4 artist's proofs. Attractive green and brown patina with some light green highlights in places. There are some minor firing marks, possibly at the time of casting. There are some slight surface marks and dust in the crevices consistent with age and handling.
