Read Condition Report Read Condition Report Register or Log-in to view condition report Saleroom Notice Provenance Acquired from Luz Gallery in Manila 1977 Private Collection, Malaysia Sotheby's Hong Kong, October 7 2012, Lot 299 “The power and fascinating quality of Legaspi’’s [paintings] stem from the feeling that they strike deep into subconscious reserves of energy and imagination. Aside from being dramatic metaphors of “the human condition,” they are also visual correlatives of inner moods and psychological weathers.” Alice G. Guillermo, Image to Meaning: Essays on Philippine Art, Ateneo de Manila University Press, Philippines, 2001, p.209 The work is in good condition overall, as is the board which is free from scuffs and abrasion. There are indications of minor wear and handling on the margins, along with associated minor paint losses on the edges of the board. Any surface inconsistencies appear to be inherent to the artist's working methods. Examination under ultraviolet light indicates no evidence of retouching. Framed. "In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective, qualified opinion. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS PRINTED IN THE SALE CATALOGUE."
