\“The power and fascinating quality of Legaspi\’\’s [paintings] stem from the feeling that they strike deep into subconscious reserves of energy and imagination. Aside from being dramatic metaphors of \“the human condition,\” they are also visual correlatives of inner moods and psychological weathers.\”
Alice G. Guillermo, Image to Meaning: Essays on Philippine Art, Ateneo de Manila University Press, Philippines, 2001, p.209
The work is in good condition overall, as is the board which is free from scuffs and abrasion. There are indications of minor wear and handling on the margins, along with associated minor paint losses on the edges of the board. Any surface inconsistencies appear to be inherent to the artist's working methods. Examination under ultraviolet light indicates no evidence of retouching. Framed. "In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report.
